We have had one of the warmest winters in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, very warm and dry Winter. Flipper, I heard Reno, Nev is having one of the drying winters ever, how warm has your days been up north?

How many people on here have low self-esteem?

i do, so i was just curious.. i know the org tends to attract/cause/contribute to people having low self-esteem, so i figure a lot of people must have it as bad or worse than me..

"What happen" I wish you the best, and hope things sort out for you. There is always something around the corner to "kick us in the knees" or try to destroy our self esteem. JWN has been a blessing to upbuild me, while opening up my eyes to various ideas and opinions. We all (all with JW background) have something in common, like shell shocked soldiers coming from the front line. Now, how can we make sense of it all?

wha happen" did you resolve your issues with your wife, I thought I read a post, where you were dealing with some hardships. I hope it all worked out, as best as this situation could have. It's hard to stay hyper, with the guilt we are all plagued with, we never could do enough, could we?

Welfare Elders

i had wanted to start this topic before but never had a chance.

i'm sure it's been dealt with before so i apologize in advance for bringing up again.. .

do you know of or ever know of elders who do the very minimum to work so that they can get the maximum child allowance, food stamps, medicaid etc?.

I called my older sister who works for the government, she reviews claims and knows the highest disability claims are around $1,200 a month. How can these Elders live off this kind of poverty. Florida's Welfare is close to $12 bucks a day, if they are on public assistance, they are still dead broke. I know one elder who is 76 who is still working, he took Social Security at 70 years old for the higher amount. He is working 30 hours a week roofing, while performing elder obligations. His home is open to his nephews, nieces whom are broke, and he helps them. He is a class act, who should be of the annoited, his actions scream "CHRISTIAN SHEPPERD.". Brother Roofer is getting $1800 a month in Social Security for 60 years of self employment. Our local Fire Chief is getting $120,000 a year, for twenty eight years of work, I doubt any JW Elder is making a killing on Welfare. The Max benifit is close to $2500 is you hit the highest threshold and wait until age 72 or like Greenspan age 80.
